Advanced Technology Industrial Park & Airport Project is a development project that involves linking the commercialization of technology with effective public and private investments to create the dynamic, scientific, technological and more importantly an indigenous infrastructure for economic growth, technological development and global competitiveness.
ITEP Project was started in 1987 with the decision of Defense Industry Executive Committee and for the facilities that will be established through the objectives of the Project, an area of nearly 1301 hectares were expropriated in Istanbul Pendik.

Technopark
Technopark that occupies an area of 90 hectares on the northern side of the airport, will welcome technology-intensive businesses to carry out a mix of knowledge-based innovation functions. These functions will encompass research, product and market development, engineering, pilot manufacturing, environment-friendly advance technology manufacturing, customer support and associated services. Technopark will be constructed under the Law of Technology Development Regions.
Sabiha Gökçen International Airport
Sabiha Gökçen International Airport has been in operation as an airport open to both domestic - international passenger and cargo traffic since 8 January 2001. Sabiha Gökçen Airport occupies an area of 661 hectares with an International Flights Terminal Building of 3.000.000 passengers / year, a Domestic Flights Terminal Building of 500.000 passengers / year and a Cargo Terminal Building of 90.000 tons / year capacity. Sabiha Gökçen airport, with a 3000 m. long and 45 m wide runway in 06 /24 direction, is equipped with the latest technology navigation systems.

Airport Management and Aeronautical Industries Co. Inc. (HEAŞ), whose majority of shares are hold by SSM, has been founded as the organization responsible for the operation and management of the airport.
In line with the continuously increasing air traffic, especially in domestic lines, current terminals became insufficient and SSM decided to construct a new terminal with the capacitiy of 10.000.000 passenger/year. New terminal will be constructed under Built-Operate-Transfer (BOT) Model. Preliminary projects for the new airport terminal building were designed by TEKELİ-SİSA Architectural Partnership which is one of the leading architectural bureaus in Turkey.
Besides, south part of ITEP area is reserved for the future expansions of the airport according to the airport development plan for the next 25 years.

Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Center
A new MRO Center, named HABOM, occupying 20 hectares of land in the airport area will be established by Turkish Technic (a venture of Turkish Airlines). Estimated investment amount for the establishment of HABOM is around US$ 200 million.
A land, next to the HABOM site, comprised of 5 hectares is leased to MRO Technic for the realization of the second maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility at Sabiha Gökçen International Airport. The facility will have 15400 m2 of hangar space and 30800 m2 shops/office space allowing the maintenance of Airbus A318-319-320-321, A300B4, A300-600, Boeing 737, 757, MD80 series aircrafts and JT8D, CF6-50 series engines.
Hotel, Congress and Exhibition Center
The area located on the western side of the Technopark area is reserved for the hotels and exhibition centers, to meet the commercial and social demands of the Technopark.
STATUS
- Sabiha Gökçen International Airport :
SSM will put out an open tender for the new terminal of Sabiha Gökçen International Airport in March 2007.
- Technopark :
SSM is now evaluating the proposals of the technopark operators of Turkey who are willing to invest for the establishment and operation of Technopark.
