Department Task and Responsibilities
The Undersecretariat for Defence Industries has been given the tasks that should be performed within the scope of international cooperation activities to increase defence exports and to improve international collaboration.
Through cooperation, collaboration with other countries and international organizations, to make the maximum contribution to SSM’s defence objectives stated basicly in the Article 10 of the Defence Industry law No. 3238 enacted in 1985 for the development of modern defence industry in Turkey and the modernization of the Turkish Armed Forces:
- 10/c, “to re-organise and integrate the national industry, encourage new enterprises, seek possibilities for foreign capital and technology contribution, guide enterprises and make plans for state participation”
- 10/g, “ to determine other financial and economic incentives”
- 10/i, “to co-ordinate off-set and the export of defence industry products”
International Cooperation Department, whose main responsibility is to enable Turkish Defence Industry to reach a significant export and cooperation potential in international market, represents the Undersecretariat as a specialized organization in both national and international platforms in the frame of collaboration in defence procurement programmes and industrialization activities of the Undersecretariat.
The Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM) attaches utmost importance to international cooperation in the field of defence industry and, supports the participation of Turkish defence industry in joint procurement programmes such as A400M, JSF and AGS, and defence cooperation related activities. Within this framework, our Department is also responsible for the research of potential international project opportunities.
