In scope of New Type Patrol Boat Project, a Letter of Intent was signed between Undersecretariat For Defense Industries (SSM) and DEARSAN Gemi İnşaat Sanayii A.Ş. on 23 May 2007 between 13:00-13:15 at DEARSAN Exhibition Area in IDEF 2007 International Defence Industry Fair.

Regarding New Type Patrol Boat Project that consists the acquisition of 16 units New Type Patrol Boat from Turkey, it has been decided to start the contract negotiations with DEARSAN Gemi İnşaat Sanayii A.Ş.in order to meet the reconnaissance, surveillance, patrol and anti-submarine warfare requirements of Turkish Naval Forces Command and support the defence of base and harbours.

The design, construction, fitting and integration of the ships will be realized by DEARSAN A.Ş. and the local content of the project will be more than 60 % with the support of Turkish defense companies, shipbuilding supply industry and universities. With these characteristics, the Project is one of the most important projects in development of Turkish military shipbuilding industry.
