Status: On 12 December 2006, the Defence Industry Executive Committee has decided for the procurement of 30 F-16 Advanced Block 50 aircraft from the U.S. Government through Foreign Military Sales (FMS).
The Letter of Request has been sent to the U.S. Government in September 2006 and U.S. Congressional notification has been completed by October 2006 and US Government has issued the draft Letter of Offer and Acceptance in February 2007.
After a long period of negotiations, SSM and US DoD have agreed on the final LOA and the agreement has been signed on 30 April 2007.
The aircraft will be assembled and delivered from the TAI facilities in Ankara while TEI (Eskişehir) will assemble the engines. The aircraft will be equipped with SPEWS II EW system, being developed by MİKES Company.
The first delivery is due mid-2011 and the last is to complete in 2012.
